Brunch. A combination between breakfast and lunch that leads to your stomach (and taste buds) contentment. I like to brunch on Sundays. It’s the perfect way for me to wrap up the weekend by stuffing my face and drinking bottomless mimosas. Really, there’s no better way. Trust me, I know good food and this Sunday I entered Brunch Heaven, also known as The Local Craft Food and Drink. Brace yourself for some photos of the tastiest southern hospitality I’ve ever experienced.
Let’s start brunching
Starting off with a cocktail.
The Local Mimosa made with grapefruit, lime, and agave will have you questioning your choice for a classic mimosa forever. Tip: Don’t have the classic here, have their version.
While we were craving their delicious Fried Green Tomatoes with burrata, we were lucky enough to find a new favorite. Green tomato carpaccio with lardo de bellota and chili vinegar. Lardo de bellota is a melt in your mouth charcuterie like no other. It added a depth of yummy piggy flavor that’s really unexpected judging by its thin and silky texture.
Duck confit. Cheese. Greens. Grated EGG! Yes, grated egg. I didn’t know it was possible – but it is – and it adds so much richness to this dish. I wasn’t good at sharing and ate most of it. OOPS!
Ok, so we had TWO of these! This little pocket of scrambled egg, maple fennel sausage, and cheese is addicting. Especially when dipped in that bourbon syrup. Perfect balance of sweet, savory, salty, OMG.
Can’t skip the sweet stuff. This french toast was so yummy and I wish I could put that whipped butter on everything.
By the end of this post I bet you’re wondering how we are still eating. People at the restaurant actually asked us this question but the answer was simple. Great food, great company, and mimosas. If you haven’t been to The Local yet, what are you waiting for? And if you have been, go again. They’re always changing up the menu. Hope you have reservations for Father’s Day!
