When hundreds of people are brought together to rate burgers from over 20 of Miami’s best restaurants, you know you’re in for a treat. This year marked the 6th Annual Burgerliscious festival in Coral Gables and I was there to taste all the juicy goodness. I was lucky enough to savor all the meaty culinary masterpieces from some of Miami’s best restaurants and in preparation, I made sure to keep my appetite in check throughout the day. Needless to say, I was really hungry by the time the festival rolled around so I could taste stuff my face with as many burgers as possible. Timed perfectly during election season, there were fun props throughout.
Official judges had the task of blind-tasting each burger (that’s 21, btw) to come up with a winner for Best in Bun.
Off the Mile restaurant came in FIRST for our favorite burger of the night. A Cuban Frita style burger with julienne cut potatoes and bocadito bread, then topped with a pickle and sliced cherry.
But it really was neck and neck with Pincho Factory’s Pincho Buger. If I were to tell you how often we eat at Pincho Factory, you’d probably say we eat way too many burgers and should get on a diet ASAP before our clothes stop fitting. Seriously, we’re addicted. The Pincho Burger took First Place for Best in Bun (again) this year! If you haven’t tried it, their signature Pincho Burger topped with lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, potato sticks, and secret pink sauce is amazing.
Welcome Big Easy Winebar & Grill, a South African Concept by golfer Ernie Ells. Big Easy will be the first U.S. location for the chain at Brickell City Centre. Check out their “Big Easy” Burger.
Pisco y Nazca got creative with their Que Bestia Burger. A pretzel bun with tomato-panca chutney, rocoto pepper aioli and (my favorite component) shoestring potatoes.
Jack Daniels partnered up with Burgerliscious for the event, so naturally we had a DEE-LISH-ious Honey Whiskey Cupcakes with Honey Whiskey Buttercream. SO GOOD.
Aside from indulging our taste-buds and expanding our waistbands, the festival celebrates the beginning of Miami Live Month, a month long experience of live music, arts and entertainment. Great performance by Mad World Orchestra!
I’m counting down the days for next year’s Burgerliscious Festival and can’t wait!
